DESCRIPTION

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
The Supported Living Staff Supervisor is responsible for the development, training and support for Direct Support Professionals and Home Aids within the Supported Living Program.

Staff supervisors must work 8 hours one weekend day.

DUTIES

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific Responsibilities of the Supported Living Staff Supervisor include, but are not limited to the following items:

1.Directly supervises and trains Direct Support Professionals and Home Aids;

2.Plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and counsels for employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems;

3.Ensure that overtime is kept to a minimum;

4.Process timecards to guarantee accuracy;

5.Creates and maintains consumer schedules to adhere to NOA budgets;

6.Respond to daily pager call offs by assisting team in finding coverage;

7.Provide staff training (formal and informal), coach and counsel for appropriate implementation of financial materials/needs, medications, policies, procedures, and other job functions;

8.Audits and completes on a quarterly basis the following: 60 day house checks, fire and tornado drills, and monthly side effect monitoring forms (possibly on a more regular basis if asked;

9.Accompanies clients to appointments as required;

10.Assist in agency coverage for Renewed Horizons, Daily Living Skills, and/or Outsource;

11.Ensures compliance of agency and departmental policy and procedures;

12.Ensures DSP's are treated with dignity and are respected and valued;

13.Attend/Develop appropriate in-services, conferences, workshops, and agency meetings as needed;

14.Demonstrating professional role model for staff and persons served;

15.Demonstrating teamwork with staff, clients, and other departments in the agency;

16.Maintaining acceptable work standards in all areas including attendance and punctuality;

17.Being available as scheduled, or as needed, to receive emergency communication during non-traditional work times. Required to carry crew specific pager on a rotating basis;

18.Completing other duties as requested by the QDDP, QDDP Manager, Director, or Social Services Director.

In addition to the Specific Responsibilities outlined above, general responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.Communication
The General Responsibilities of this position may include the ability to communicate and interact with the public, co-workers, other departments, supervisors, state agencies, clients and client family members.

3.Physical Tasks
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1)Without assistance, employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 120 pounds.

2)While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, crawl, sit, stand, stoop, bend, squat, push, pull and have full physical dexterity and agility. Assist with toileting, bathing, feeding, and medication on an as needed basis for clients.

3.Tasks and Abilities
1)This position requires the ability to operate a vehicle. Must have reliable transportation.
2)Will be required to carry your crew specific pager and/or cell phone furnished by the agency.
3)Must be able to work flexible hours and shift work as needed.
4)Will be required to receive and make work-related phone calls from home.
5)Must have the ability to read and comprehend documents and procedure manuals.
6)Must have the ability to write routine reports, policies and procedures, and correspondence.
7)Must have the ability to calculate, count, add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with fractions, decimals, and percentages,
8)Understand budgets and financial reports.
9)Must have the ability to complete financial information/reports, as needed.
10)Must have the ability to comprehend, retain, and follow oral and written instructions, exercise good judgment, set priorities, concentrate and focus on sensitive materials or items, listen, analyze, problem solve, and make decisions.
11)Must be able to self-direct, work without supervision, function in high stress situations, provide instruction/training, and organize.
12)Must be able to make informative and persuasive presentations, negotiate, self-direct, work without supervision, provide instruction/training, direct, and organize.
13)Must demonstrate supervisory skills compatible with the organization.

4.The Staff Supervisor shall assume other responsibilities as requested by the Supported Living QDDP Manager, Director, or Social Services Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each of the specific and general responsibilities satisfactorily. Additionally, the requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required to perform this job:

1.Required Licenses, Certificates, Degrees and/or Experience
1)She/he must possess a valid Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to Opportunity Enterprises Inc. insurance carrier.
2)She/he must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
3)She/he should have two (2) years of experience with individuals with disabilities but is not required.

2.Continuing Requirements
The employee will meet the 24 hours of In-Service required per year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are generally representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

1.While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly:
  • Is isolated with minimal support, has multiple indoor and outdoor worksites, has
continuous mobility, exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions,
exposure to dust, dirt, and mud substances, moving machinery, high stress situations, and experiences changes in work schedules.

2.While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally:
  • Has exposure to hazardous chemicals or infectious substances, exposure to high-risk situations, is required to perform repetitive work, and exposure to aggressive behavior.
3.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (normal).
