This fully competent position performs an array of regression, segmentation, clustering, and other advanced statistical analyses. It addresses internal and external customer needs with statistical analyses to deliver business intelligence, models, reports, and presentations. Furthermore, it assists customers through understanding of their business needs and helping customers implement the solutions developed by the business unit. It also develops the framework to implement reliable products and services and consults with customers to help them formulate their decision support needs and implement them into business strategies and policies. Finally, it assists in providing technical product support for new and existing products and services developed by TransUnion.

Utilizes various advanced statistical modeling techniques such as regression, CHAID, clustering, neural network and other advanced statistical methods. Consults with customers to design and conduct analyses. Conducts analysis that leads to the creation of robust models within time and cost constraints. Provides easy to understand and action oriented analytic reports and presentations for customers. Demonstrates to internal and external customers how analysis can be implemented to maximize business strategies including cost benefit analyses. Explores new statistical analysis and related research techniques and software and presents analysis findings to peers and other groups within TransUnion. Coordinates the integration of data analysis with statistical models to make sound strategic recommendations. Assists in providing technical sales support, which may include providing strategic consulting and needs assessment services to internal and external customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conducts and/or manages projects related to the statistical analysis of data that will address the various phases of the account life cycle.

Tests and assesses new statistical analysis methods and software for continual improvement of business and information solutions.

Prepares detailed documentation specifications such as analysis and research results for internal and external distribution/publication.

Follows, and may create, detailed project plans to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Prepares formal client reports and makes presentations on analytical results.

Identifies, develops, and evaluates statistical models/methods to analyze data and provides business recommendations to clients with action plans.

Creates clear and easy to understand reports according to customer needs and/or specifications.

Provides the high quality customer and sales support; answering questions, resolving problems and consulting with internal and external customers.

Helps with the implementation of generic and custom decision supports systems into TransUnion’s credit reporting system.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

This job requires a Master’s degree in Statistics or other related field such as mathematics, business, finance, economics, or equivalent. Prior consumer credit lending, marketing strategy, and/or risk management, as well as statistical analysis/modeling experience is strongly desired. 2 + years relevant industry experience. Strong understanding of statistical tools and their application to business, as well as principles of cost/benefit analysis, risk management, marketing and operations. Must have demonstrated experience using a PC and the applicable software programs necessary to complete the work of the position. Must know SAS in a mainframe and/or PC environment. Knowledge of SPSS, data mining tools such as KnoweledgeSeeker, Enterprise Miner, etc., as well as strategy development, using tools such as credit scoring systems (new accounts, behavioral, collection and recovery likelihood, etc.), CHAID and Triad/Probe/Strategyware/Capstone-type of software is a plus. Technical aptitude with strong logical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Proficiency in performing multiple tasks and dealing with changing deadline requirements required. Must have good verbal and written communication skills; strong listening and teamwork skills; and effective presentation and sales skills are also required. Must be focused, flexible, and organized. Occasional travel may be required.
