The SUPERVISOR HIM CODING (CERT) is responsible for monitoring the coding process; accounts coded in a timely manner to facilitate the Facility's data collection and revenue cycle improvement goals. The Supervisor hires, evaluates and terminates as needed all HIM Coding section employees. This position participates in the HIM Leadership team in planning, budgeting and setting goals. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values the employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Perform on-going internal coding quality audits, monthly productivity reports and participate and respond to Dignity Health Corporate coding audits.
Must possess an Associate Degree in HIM Technology
RHIT is preferred
Must possess a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certification
Must be registered with the American Health Information Association and must meet its requirements for continuing education
One (1) to two (2) years supervisory experience in a hospital HIM (Medical Records) Coding Department
Knowledge in medical terminology, indexes and classification systems and medicolegal ethics
Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local regulations concerning records and reports on Medi-Cal care, vital statistics and diseases
Knowledge of the uses and limitations of medical records
Ability to develop plans and procedures to improve the maintenance and contents of medical records
Knowledge in medical terminology, indexes and classification systems and medico legal ethics
Knowledge of management principles
