Functional and administrative supervision is exercised over staff in Pre-Registration / Insurance Verification.
Required Qualifications:
An Associate's degree in Business, Social Science or related area or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Two to three years experience in patient admissions or supervision is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
You must be a current University of Missouri employee to apply. Mental/Physical Requirements : Ability to communicate clearly in person or on the telephone. Ability to hear voice/data transmissions in areas of moderate to high background noise. Ability to perform routine tasks involving sitting in one location for prolonged periods of time (four hours or more).
Detailed Description:
Interview and recommend selection, train, evaluate and counsel all staff on assigned shift. Assist with staff development. Determine and assign duties to assigned staff. Review and assist in the work of the department to ensure adherence to established standards of performance under stressful volumes to insure payer source is validated for each patient encounter within UMHC hospitals. Represent Registration in contacts with other departments, physicians, patients, and outside agencies; handle problems within the department as they arise. Maintain quality assurance activities with data collection, analysis and entry. Appropriately handle all information including confidential operations. Performs ongoing assessment of staff performance and facilitates changes as needed. Has and maintains appropriate technical knowledge of the work area being supervised and uses it to coach, teach and evaluate staff. Demonstrates conflict resolution skills. Actively works with Registration Services and other integrated department leadership and staff to create a team approach and work environment within UMHC. Readily shows initiative and flexibility for additional tasks/projects. Manages emotions and works well under pressure. Keeps management informed of departmental status consistently.
