A switchboard operator's main function is managing multiple incoming phone lines, greeting callers, answering routine questions and forwarding calls and takes messages .
· The major duty of the switchboard operator is to answer all the calls that come through to the main line of the company.
· Listen to the request of the person and either solve the query or direct the call to the concerned department.
· Needs to know who is in which department and who is in charge of what function.
· Needs to have up-to-date information of the current happenings in the company.
· Must have knowledge of major events or products that the company is holding or launching.
· Responsibility to ensure that all the calls are routed to the appropriate department or person.
· Take down the relevant information and logging them in the system.
· Other duties may involve greeting visitors, making them comfortable, receiving the mail of the organization, handling some business communication, arranging meetings with clients and other workplace communication , etc
· Updating and maintaining pertinent business information via computer or department files
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Basic Qualifications:
· Ability to communicate with clients
· Ability to work well in stressful situations and be deadline sensitive
· Ability to type 35 wpm
· Availability to work overtime/varied hours when required
· Excellent customer service skills, professional attitude & appearance
· Good written and oral communication skills
· Strong organizational, administrative, record keeping & time management skills
· Strong team approach to business
Experience Necessary:

3 years experience

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Education:

High school diploma or comparable work experience
