Our client, a leading developer and manufacturer of deep drawn metal enclosures for implantable medical devices and other demanding applications, has an exciting opportunity in Minneapolis, MN for an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer.

This position is responsible for:
Serve as expert on EHS matters related to associate safety, environmental protection, property protection, and associate health in a manufacturing environment, while being proactive, reducing EHS risk, and holding all Associates accountable Initiate and complete policies, programs, and initiatives to ensure EHS compliance and achieve company goals Monitor and evaluate the impact of new laws, regulations, and industry standards Lead efforts, projects and cross-functional EHS teams in the direction of a continuously improving work environment that is safe and environmentally friendly Ensure required records, permits, and reports are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines by local, state, and federal agencies Train new and existing associates on company policies, procedures and regulations as required by regulations and best practices Identify hazardous workplace conditions, perform and document job hazard analysis, and coordinate activities to ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented Respond to day-to-day associate concerns in an appropriate and timely manner Manages the investigation and assessment of work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-misses focusing on root cause analysis and corrective actions. Monitors Medical Incident Notifications (MIN) at the facility, and works with Human Resources on workers compensation and return to work programs Review, measure, audit, and report on efforts in attaining compliance with EHS laws, regulations, company policies, and best practices to all levels of the organization Perform internal audits and inspections of facility and operations. Emergency Response Team member proficient in medical, hazmat, incipient fire, weather related, and other potential emergencies Liaison for government agencies

BS degree in engineering, safety, science or other EHS related field (MS preferred) 3- 5 years experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations including air permitting, water permitting, ergonomics, emergency response, and worker’s compensation Training and certifications preferred: First Aid, CPR & AED, RCRA, DOT, IATA, and Hazwopper
