Position Summary :

Responsible for day-to-day safety related activities for the facility, including inspecting machinery, equipment, and working conditions within Harrisonville and Botts Rd facilities to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions :

  • Monitors the company's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations
  • Maintain safety incident records
  • Investigates causes of accidents to identify preventive safety measures for incorporation into the safety program
  • Interview supervisors and employees to obtain facts about work practice or accident
  • Report safety measurements on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis for internal purposes up to and including corporate communication
  • Prepare and Post annual OSHA 300A, 300 and BLS reporting
  • Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices
  • Conducts trend analysis, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials
  • Rates unsafe condition according to factors such as severity of potential injury, likelihood of recurrence, employers' incident record, and evidence of voluntary compliance
  • Observes workers and evaluates job activities to determine use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, helmets, goggles, respirators, clothing, harnesses, and other equipment
  • Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action
  • Observes employees at work to determine compliance with safety precautions and safety equipment
  • Orders suspension of activity posing threat to workers
  • Writes new safety work orders designed to protect workers from work methods, processes, or other hazard not previously covered
  • Inspects specified areas for fire prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies
  • Coordinate with outside vendor services including first aid kits, eye wash stations, fire protection devices, mats, hand sanitizers, feminine hygiene bins, etc
  • Maintains written programs and training compliance systems, including new hire orientation and annual required
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions
  • Oversees the administration of workers compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce lost time-accidents
  • Coordinates industrial hygiene visits including dust and noise studies
  • Coordinates occupational hazard testing including enzyme skin prick testing, respirator fit testing and audiograms
  • Prepares and arranges safety materials for display including safety statistics, meeting notices, required postings, etc.
  • Reviews log of reportable accidents and preventive actions taken to determine employers' attitude toward compliance with regulations
  • Documents findings and code sections violations
  • Coordinates voluntary health programs including flu shots and hepatitis B vaccinations
  • Explore and implement new training and educational tools
  • Facilitates quarterly safety committee and ERT meetings and prepares meeting minutes
  • Purchase and maintains inventory levels of PPE
  • Coordinate/manage uniform program, safety shoes and prescription eye glasses allowances
  • Prepare requisitions for safety and environmental purchases utilizing the P-net systems
  • Manage safety incentive program
  • Take active role in corporate safety audit


  • Qualifications:

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Familiarity of OSHA and regulatory requirements on federal, state, and local level
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational/time management skills, with astute attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively and professionally interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to consistently provide and sustain a high level of customer service
  • Ability to operate most office equipment, proficient working knowledge of MS Office
  • Demonstrates ambiguity to change
