We are currently seeking an individual with extensive occupational health and safety experience in electric utility construction and/or operations to serve as a corporate Safety Manager . This position reports to the Vice President, HSQE and will be based in Broomfield, CO. Position demands monthly travel to active Company construction projects and operations facilities across US and Canada with potential for travel to South America.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct monthly safety audits of Company construction projects, operations facilities, and offices.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct Safety training of company employees.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on occupational health and safety to Company management.
  • Provide safety program review/guidance support to Company sales teams during project bidding.
  • Prepare (as necessary), review, and revise Company Safety procedures as part of Company continuous improvement process.
  • Review construction work instructions for safety considerations.
  • Provide technical program direction to site based Safety Supervisors.
  • Coordinate, and/or as necessary perform accident and incident investigations; be capable of performing root cause analysis.
  • Support Company Project Managers in performance of Risk Assessments, and development of Method Statements to mitigate site hazards.
  • Support other Company departments in the development/review of Method Statements, Work Instructions, and/or procedures to assure safety considerations are addressed.
  • Perform other related duties/functions as directed by Vice President, HSQE.
  • Maintain current knowledge of professional and industrial best practices, including governing federal and local regulations.
  • Maintain records and databases.
  • Assist in preparation of HSQE reports related to Company safety program compliance/performance.
  • Monthly travel (up to 50% annually) within North America, with potential for international travel.


  • Educational and Experience Requirements:

    Mandatory

  • Candidate will possess a college degree in Safety with a CSP designation highly preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with degrees in Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant Science with strong safety program work experience. If not already in possession of CSP, candidate will be capable of earning CSP designation within 1 year of hire.
  • Candidate will have minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in safety program management/supervision of construction or operations sites.
  • Successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to recognize issues requiring action, to take initiative with minimal guidance, and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Candidate will have exceptional knowledge in the application of safety regulations and standards applicable to North American construction works (including OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, etc.)
  • Candidate will have excellent Safety program auditing skills including ability to present finding to all employee levels (trade, supervision, management, and executive management) as well as report writing skills. (Example of writing skills should be supplied with resume).
  • Candidate will also demonstrate developed skills in writing, and reviewing safety procedures and technical specifications.
  • Candidate will demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a high level of capability in MS-Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Outlook. Other database experience highly desired.
  • Candidate should possess a current passport that would allow international travel (including travel to Canada) or be eligible to secure a passport within 60 days of hire.
  • Preferred

  • Experience with wind farm or solar farm construction, and/or electric utility construction.
  • Training in fall protection for working at heights.
  • Fluency in Spanish as a second language, including ability to read and write work related documents relevant to safety programs would be beneficial
