The MENTOR Network is currently seeking a Safety Manager to be responsible for directing all safety and risk programs and activities for the Redwood North 5 state region. This position is accountable for ensuring cost-effective compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to human services. This positions acts as a safety and risk liaison with local operations and corporate teams. Equally important, this position is responsible for assuring continuous improvement in risk mitigation through advancement of positive, proactive culture of discipline, as well as updating related procedures and tools. The position will work closely with Human Resources to ensure programs and activities are effectively integrated within the field operating environment. Other responsibilities include but not limited to:
Essential Job Functions
Work cooperatively with MENTOR Risk Team, Human Resources, Quality Assurance and Operation Leaders to develop and implement sound Safety practices including accident prevention, combative behavior, and slip/fall tools and training.
Verifies compliance with health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
Manages the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
Ensure and provides required OSHA training for all employees per calendar year.
Confirm emergency preparedness programs are in place for each location
Present safety information/statistics/risks/reports/solutions at regional team meetings
Coordinate process to effectively conduct safety audits of locations on a consistent schedule throughout the year.
Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience in safety, risk, compliance and/or workers compensation.
Proven familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety, risk, compliance and/or workers compensation area.
Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
Computer literacy and proficiency
Strong analytical skills and ability to deal effectively and creatively with issues and problems
Ability to meet changing, demanding deadlines while assuring accuracy and completeness of work and that of staff members
Knowledge of safety & environmental permitting processes, regulations and reporting requirements within the Human Services industry
Knowledge of workers compensation claims management and reporting
Experience working within a matrix, muli-state, mulit-team, collaborative environment.
