We are currently accepting applications for a Safety Supervisor in our State-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Watertown, WI, conveniently located between Madison and Milwaukee. The position will require travel to our other locations, including Middleton, Cottage Grove, and Madison.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs at all CQC locations to ensure a safe work environment and assure compliance with safety standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops and maintains safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines. Manage process to review policies on a periodic basis.

Assists with accident investigation, ensures completion of the accident report paperwork and follow-ups as necessary. Develops and implements accident data analysis and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.

Conducts on-site reviews and audits of all CQC facilities, as well as on-site audits of construction and capital activity.

Attends conferences, meeting, and workshops to keep up-to-date on new safety methods and procedures to applicable regulations. Monitors all current safety-related information on regulations and requirements.

Leads the Safety Steering Committee meetings. Develop agenda for weekly meetings and complete any follow-ups.

Leads the safety meetings at both production facilities. Acts as a liaison between the Safety Steering Committee and the plant safety teams.

Develops and delivers safety training presentations, ensuring the training meets OSHA requirements and are consistent with our policies. This includes new employee training, contractor training, supervisor- or department-specific training, and some monthly training presentations.

Develops and administers safety awareness programs (for example, incentives, safety huddles, safety-on-the-spot, etc.)

Organize and maintain the safety intranet site to ensure ease of use.

Leads safety assessments on an annual basis, or as needed, which includes: hazards, fall protection, machine guarding, PPE, etc.

Manages the MSDS inventory, including a periodic audit to ensure up-to-date.

Works with maintenance and engineering regarding new equipment, processes, or facilities to ensure they are OSHA compliant and ergonomically correct.

Researches and evaluates new safety equipment or work practices to implement to make the workplace safer.

Oversees and manages the contractor safety program. Ensures contractors are in compliance with our standards and ensures appropriate paperwork is completed. Oversees and manages the safety pre-qualification program for contractors bidding for projects

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of safety compliance and/or engineering experience, or if no degree, a minimum of 5 years of safety compliance and/or engineering experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied or Basic Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is preferred.

Experience in a food manufacturing is preferred.

Broad knowledge and experience with manufacturing and engineering

Intermediate to Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Must have acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license

Good written and verbal communication skills
