Menasha Packaging is currently looking to fill the
position of Safety /Environmental Manager at our plant
in Hartford, WI. In this position you will be
responsible and developing programs, overseeing and
managing all aspects of safety in order to provide a
safe working environment for all employees. The position
is also responsible for environmental management in
order to be in compliance with current laws and
regulations. Ensuring the protection of the Company from
the legal and financial liabilities associated with the
environmental and health impacts of the Hartford, WI &
Green Lake, WI plants. Leadership role in plant safety
and the primary OSHA contact for both facilities.

  • Drive accountability around safety policies and
safety decisions
  • Provide management with guidance on
allowable/acceptable products and processes that
minimize environment/health impacts
  • Conduct daily shop floor visits with employees
  • Conduct periodic safety walk-through (weekly) to
evaluate compliance and look for opportunities to
improve environmental/industrial health aspects of
the operation
  • Manage Safety Snag process and ensure progress is
being made to resolve and issues
  • Develop and maintain complete MSDS files/system for
employees to review product health and safety data
  • Develop and conduct Right-To-Know training (new
employees and refreshers)
  • Approve/disapprove new products and MSDS's for
safety/environmental impacts
  • Manage Hazardous Waste in accordance with all
applicable regulations
  • Evaluate Capital Budget Requests for environmental
impact (E.A. environmental assessment)
  • Conduct Waste Minimization audits and oversee steps
to reduce waste
  • Utilize Chemical Information Management Systems to
evaluate new products and to determine compliance
  • Prepare for, investigate, and document any spills
that might occur
  • Complete permit applications throughout the year
  • Manage information resources - files, record
retention and journals
  • Conduct Industrial Health (I.H.) exposure
  • Primary contact of hazardous waste companies in
order to procure service and pricing information
  • Maintain contracts with appropriate companies while
ensuring competitive pricing
  • Monitor and maintain personal protective equipment
supply, usage and requirements
  • Participate in self-development activities for
continuous performance improvement and to prepare
for future assignments
  • Development and management of plans and training
programs including; lock out/tag out, hazardous
waste reduction, emergency response, hazard
communication (employee right-to-know), spill
response, hearing conservation, and respiratory
  • Routine reporting to government agencies including;
spill reporting, storm water permit reports, sewer
discharge report, state reports, hazardous
waste-activity, community right-to-know reports, air
permit reporting, surface water permit reporting
  • Non-routine reporting including; special surveys,
company surveys, superfund inquiries, spill
response, customer inquiries, waste manifests,
industry surveys, waste contractor audits
  • Manage Workman’s Comp cases - be a liaison between
the employees, medical staff, and insurance carriers
  • Lead EHS teams to gain employee involvement
  • Lead and drive the safety and environmental
  • Four year degree or equivalent experience
Required Competencies:
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess practical knowledge of appropriate
safety and environmental regulations
  • Must be able to work with all levels in the
