The Account Manager position is an integral part of EMD Millipore's Pharm Chemicals Solutions business field. Our Pharm Chemicals team is focused on partnering with the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry to provide critical raw materials used in the manufacture of therapeutics, vaccines, and diagnostic products. The ideal candidate will be a scientist/business professional with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical or biotechnology operations. This position must be prepared to

  • achieve the annual Territory Operating Plan (territory budget) by proactively pursuing and following-up on sales opportunities for upstream cell culture supplements and media, formulation products and active pharmaceutical ingredients that are utilized in all phases of pharmaceutical / biotechnology drug production
  • work within an assigned annual expense budget
  • collaborate with customer's process development, quality systems, manufacturing and supply chain operations in order to acquire new projects that will deliver highly profitable business
  • actively use the sales tools that are provided and to maintain a clear understanding of the status of all existing and future opportunities within the territory.
  • to collaborate with other EMD Millipore colleagues in Sales, Field Marketing and Product Management
  • travel approximately 50% of the time to meet with customers within the geographic boundaries of the territory and to attend various internal business meetings
Qualifications

  • BS/MS in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, chemistry or biochemistry with 3-5 years experience within pharmaceutical development or technology implementation
  • Sales experience is required
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required
  • Strong communication (verbal/written), interpersonal, and organization skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to leverage decisions at a high level
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to profile the entire customer process in order to identify opportunities
  • Knowledge of markets, technology, regulatory agencies and competition
  • Knowledge of customer applications and excellent public speaking skills
