Catering Manager: The Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central hotel in Kearny Mesa is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic person to join as Catering Sales Manager

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Sales

I. MAJOR FUNCTION:
The catering manager’s main function is the sales and service of all banquet functions, whether booked by group rooms or by catering. The manager is responsible for adhering to all Marriott standard operating procedures and policies. Apply on-line at www.huntingtonhotelgroup.com .

II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. To book, finalize food & beverage and meeting room set-up requirements
B. To upgrade and upsell menus to achieve food and beverage cost
C. To be aware of the forecast and budget, and fill business into open times. Be profit minded.
D. Familiarization with catering standard operating procedures and adhering to these guidelines
E. To be prompt and accurate in completion of assigned projects
F. To establish and maintain customer contact at all functions
G. To establish communication with the F&B Director, culinary, banquets, and sales team
H. To recommend and identify new ideas, methods and markets
I. To promote energy conservation and aggressive hospitality programs along with achieving accident prevention goals

III. JOB DUTIES:
A. Finalizing BEO's and telephoning, e-mailing, or visiting customers
B. Calling/E-mailing a contact after each function to insure satisfaction
C. Tracing files to insure proper finalization of program
D. Proper credit check to insure correct payment
E. Inspection of operations three times each shift
F. Conduct training classes for new serving and set-up equipment
G. Conduct pro-active outside sales calls
H. Heavy prospecting via numerous methods i.e. Internet, Outside Sales, Phone, In-House Groups, etc.
I. Coverage for other sales management activities as needed
J. Attend industry events
K. Shop calls to competition

IV. PROFILE OF QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Minimum of 1 year experience as Catering/Sales Assistant/Coordinator/Manager in an upscale hotel/catering venue
B. Social Catering Experience a big plus
C. Career-oriented
