This position provides advanced technical and application support within the business sales department. Shares responsibility with the Consolidated sales person to understand the customer's goals, business requirements, and network configurations. Responsible for developing a strategic partnership with the customer to address these requirements through integrated technical solutions and customer satisfaction. Interfaces with operations to develop technical systems, processes, network services, support, information, and training.
Consults, designs and prices complex products, applications, and integrated network solutions to meet customer business requirements. Responsibilities may also include ordering and assisting in the implementation of equipment specified in the customer quote.
Proactively profiles accounts and promotes products and applications. Provides technical support to clients and the account teams, by serving as subject matter expert in the Company?s products, services, and applications.
Assists sales department in developing account strategy for selected priority or key accounts. Maintains periodic customer relations with large accounts to ensure customer retention and customer satisfaction.
Advanced understanding of industry applications and educates the client on the technical and business benefits of products and applications. Specific technologies that require an advanced understanding of include, but not limited to, SIP Trunking, VoIP, Class of Service (COS), Quality of Service (QOS), SIP Enabled Devices, Local Area Networking (LAN), Wide Area Networking (WAN), Premise based and host PBX, and structured cabling systems.
Advanced understanding of telephone system applications and assists sales in educating clients on the technical and business benefits of these applications.
Assists in the technical development of the sales department. Prepares and conducts technical training for department. Training may include: product overview, technical overview, feature descriptions, future enhancements, product applications, benefits of product, competitive analysis, pricing, tariff, promotions, maintenance procedures, installation procedures, identification of target market, sales collateral, and service order process. Coordinates input from personnel in other departments and/or sections of the Company.
Serves as key contact to on all service and sales issues. Responsibilities include: customer presentations, implementation management, lead representative, and answering customer questions.
Keeps supervisor advised of project status during launch and ongoing product management. Reports product status to supervisor on a periodic basis.
Attends various Company meetings, including safety meetings.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor, including product research, special reports and projects.
Travels, both locally and long distance, to attend meetings, seminars and training sessions, which may encompass more than one day, including weekends. Uses air or ground transportation, depending on distance traveled.
Reports for work on time and maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
Technical training or knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Company?s products and services and their underlying architecture. Must have working knowledge of ATM, Frame Relay, SONET, IP, WAN technologies, and 24x7 data center operations. Knowledge and understanding of electrical concepts, electronic and digital concepts; a mechanical aptitude; familiarity with personal computers and graphics and word processing software. Knowledge of various phone systems that Consolidated offers. Must possess ability to learn, understand and effectively explain the product and processes required to implement and sell products and services. Must possess the ability to motivate teams to work toward common objectives in the face of adversity, time constraints and resource shortages. Strong oral, written, interpersonal and leadership skills are essential. Must possess project and time management skills.
Work experience: Minimum of 7 years engineering telecom, data, and technical systems, with an emphasis on support multiple sales persons in a team environment.
License required: Valid drivers license.
General education or equivalent: Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience required.
Physical Demands: Physical demands are minimal and generally consistent with the performance of routine sales duties. Some of the day is spent sitting at a desk, working with computers, printers, files, and standard office equipment. Some of the day is spent walking, standing, and occasionally bending, stooping and sitting. Additionally, this position requires traveling by company vehicle to meet with customers. Movement is required in the use of office equipment, supply locations, files, and other work locations and meeting rooms. Lifting, generally less than 20 pounds occasionally required for transporting boxes, materials to and from vehicle.
