Job Summary:
Develop and manage existing sales accounts to maximize revenues.

Develop new accounts through planned prospecting, referral and lead generators.

Represent the hotel at trade shows and events.

Achieve quarterly sales goals. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Technical:
Negotiate proposals and contracts for each piece of business booked.

All discovery is properly noted in

Delphi

Create and participate in hotel trade shows by market segment.

Attend meetings and other hotel events.

Knowledge of hotel outlets hours of operation, hotel activities, meeting room locations, management names and offices, and in-house functions.

Use of proper phone etiquette and phone procedures.

General knowledge of each position in the Sales Department.

Reviews information from hotel sales meetings, marketing plan, training classes, community involvement, association meetings, and other functions held by organization members to select prospective customers for hotel services.

Access competition specs for the purpose of comparing to own property in selling situations.

Organize trade show participation and evaluate results.

Organize phone or direct sales blitz for new perspective clients.

Operate sales & catering computer system and understand the effect it has on property business levels.

Sell basic food and beverage functions, evaluate potential, and use up selling techniques to maximize revenue.

Verify reservations by letter, email, or fax; create contracts and obtain signatures.

Negotiates and enters into contracts on behalf of the hotel

Create and maintain client files to include a trace system for account maintenance.

Understand and accurately forecast short term business.

Generate ideas and plans of action to impact short term and long term hotel booking needs.

Aware of Administrative Assistant role and job responsibilities in the Sales office and able to effectively utilize their services to assist with department goals.

Complete a maintenance request form.

Monitor production of top accounts and evaluate trends within your market

Present sales presentations to potential clients to meet established goals

Actively participate in community and professional associations and events

Account Management:
Manage sales accounts by market as well as designated company accounts, including building strong relationships and keeping excellent records of each encounter with guest/client.

Confer with customer and hotel department heads to plan function details such as site inspection, space requirements, time schedule, food service, and decorations.

Serve as convention advisor or coordinator during function to minimize confusion and resolve problems.

Consistently utilize closing techniques to secure group business.

Travel to key accounts and shows and make local outside sales calls, as necessary.

Thorough knowledge of property attributes and able to make creative suggestions to overcome any obstacles a client may present.

Prospect and Solicit:
Prospect for new clients within designated market by proper utilization of Pipeline, sales leads referred by brand (where applicable) and/or CVB prospecting calls.

Familiar with community demand patterns and can offer suggestions for perspective business.

Call on prospects to solicit business, analyzes requirements of function, outlines available hotel facilities and services offered, and quotes prices according to property rate structure, and qualify clients for event.

Aware of role of direct mail as a selling tool and able to suggest the need for a campaign and conduct one from start to end.

Primary Requirements:
§

Must be familiar with all Microsoft programs.

§

Any advanced sales training a plus, exposure to revenue management programs/reporting in a hotel, well connected in the local community.

Education/Experience Requirements:
§

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school.

§

Three or more years of experience in hotel sales, luxury hotel experience preferred.

Language Skills

§

Command of the English language both written and verbal.

§

Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

§

Able to write and clearly communicate utilizing prescribed style and format.

§

Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

§

Able to write reports and business correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

§

Able to read, analyzes, and interpret internal common documentation and financial reports.

§

Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Physical Demands

§

Long hours may be required.

§

Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

§

Travel is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
