About the position:
The Sales Manager will be responsible for sales, strategy and outreach for the Playworks Training department offering professional development workshops to the education market and youth based organizations. This position will be responsible for collaborating with the Business Development Officer to establish sales goals and meet monthly and annual sales targets in addition to creating sales campaigns focused on developing a strong pipeline of new customers and nurturing relationships with repeat customers. This is a full-time exempt position which reports to the Senior Sales Manager and is located in New York, NY.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with Senior Sales Manager to establish both annual and monthly sales objectives to support Playworks’ market and target customer segments
  • Coordinate the specific objectives of the sales plan with all functional departments and cities
  • Seek out and target new customers/sales opportunities
  • Implement sales plan to approach and secure new business for PT
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of new customers
  • Directly manage major and critical developing client accounts, and coordinate the management of all other accounts
  • Prospect and grow an account list, handle incoming leads and close sales
  • Effectively execute and manage every element of the sales process
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs and results
  • Develop an online and offline sales strategy
  • Work with Communications department to identify vertical media strategies for PT and related projects
  • Increase visibility of Playworks and support PT expansion efforts by building on-going relationships with school and community representatives and generating opportunities for providing training and technical assistance programs as means of conveying Playworks’ organizational philosophy and mission
  • Develop and/or maintain and improve business relations with all customers of Playworks
  • All other duties as assigned by manager

Passionate commitment to Playworks’ mission and youth development approach

2-3 years experience as a sales manager

Extensive knowledge of youth development principles and practices, especially relating to issues of equity, inclusion and healthy competition within sports and physical activity

Experience developing and executing tactical sales plans including quotas and account objectives

Experience cold calling and implementing strategy for new business development

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage details

Excellent relationship management, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Must have ability to ensure adequate and efficient transportation to and from training/sales/presentation engagements

Ability to provide support in the development of client trainings on account management and sales strategy

Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM software is preferred

Comfort with a playful, exuberant and mildly irreverent workplace culture
