Ocean Ridge Biosciences (ORB), a South Florida-based contract research laboratory focusing on RNA Profiling and Biomarker Discovery services, is seeking an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial individual to fill the challenging and rewarding position of Sales & Marketing Associate.
Description: This position is designed for a unique individual who will enjoy direct interaction with ORB’s clients as well as applying their creativity to the enhancement of ORB’s on-line visibility. The Sales & Marketing Associate will be responsible for maintaining updated content on ORB’s web site and increasing links in to the site utilizing social media, blogging or other means. This individual will also participate in the drafting of white papers and press releases as well as production of client presentations. In addition to the above traditional marketing activities, the Sales & Marketing Associate will devote 50% effort to sales functions such as following-up on previous inquiries, mining databases for potential clients, sending out blast e-mails, cold calling, visiting current and potential customers in their laboratories, and representing ORB at trade shows.
Requirements: The Sales & Marketing Associate position at ORB is extremely challenging as it brings together 3 separate disciplines. Therefore we are seeking an ambitious and entrepreneurial candidate with an optimistic disposition. The selected candidate must have the ability to rapidly assimilate new material and the creativity to generate novel sales and marketing solutions for ORB. Excellent oral and written communication skills are definitely required, as the selected candidate must be able to succinctly communicate scientific methods and data interpretation both in-person and in writing.
The selected candidate will have some history of sales-related employment or activity such as (1) two or more years of work experience in a customer-focused or sales position, (2) history of leadership and/or successful fundraising in volunteer/ charity organizations or academic associations, or (3) successful completion of an internship in sales, marketing, or business development. The selected candidate must also have the capability to manage ORB’s online presence; this will require at a minimum the writing skills described above and the ability to generate attractive sales presentations integrating text and graphical elements. Proficiency with software tools for graphic design, page layout, and web page management would be a plus. However we will accept candidates with the ability to effectively conceive and manage the implementation of on-line content in collaboration with ORB’s bioinformatics department.
In addition to sales and marketing aptitude, the selected candidate must also demonstrate an interest in and capability to fully comprehend the details of ORB’s RNA Profiling and Biomarker Discovery services so that they may effectively communicate the advantages of our services to prospective clients. The preferred candidate would therefore have received some formal training or possess a work history in the field of biotechnology. This could be demonstrated by the possession of a B. S. degree in the Biological Sciences, an Associate’s Degree in Biotechnology, or a Professional Science Master’s Degree. Experience working in the sales or marketing department of a biotechnology company would also demonstrate aptitude for the position.
Compensation: Base salary commensurate with experience, plus sales commissions, and stock options.
