MTV Networks is conducting a search for a Sales Service Executive, Business Development, based in Santa Monica, our West Coast HQ. The West Coast Business Development Position is a hybrid role consisting of three main groups of responsibilities: Administrative, Sales Support, and Account Management. As a result, the position provides enormous potential for professional development and a steep learning curve, since the job allows an individual to manage his/her own accounts from the pitch process through the close of sale. While the job certainly involves administrative work, the administrative tasks will be paired with higher level responsibilities for a fulfilling, worthwhile experience.

Account Management:
Oversee sales process from initiation of pitch, closing of sale, traffic, billing, and collections for individual accounts on SSE list.

Search and prospect new clients for Viacom Media Networks.

Build and maintain existing client relationships for individual SSE account list.

Prepare customized sales presentations based on the needs, objectives, and goals of individual clients.

Interpret and utilize research to best position and sell VMN to potential clients on SSE list.

Manage and oversee job responsibilities of intern. Oversee his/her growth and development each semester.

Sales Support:
Preparing and developing sales strategies and proposals with West Coast VP of Business Development.

Preparing sales presentations for client meetings using PowerPoint.

Joining West Coast VP on sales calls for new and existing clients.

Working with our West Coast research team to execute research requests for West Coast VP.

Building sales plans for music group networks, working closely with Ad Operations and Pricing/Planning Groups to develop plans.

Preparing Letters of Agreement, as well as post-sale reporting for on-air integrations that are sent weekly to clients that are integrated into VMN shows.

Maintaining our 12-network 360 cluster overview (updating monthly) that our West Coast BD group and main sales team use on introductory client meetings.

Preparing participation emails for in-show integration opportunities and handling the logistics of our non-spot business with smaller clients.

Drafting notes on behalf of our West Coast VP for new and existing prospects.

Creating prep documents for major trade shows and significant meetings.

Preparing company overviews and spend analyses.

Booking and organizing travel for West Coast VP.

Preparing and managing expenses for West Coast VP.

Maintaining West Coast VP calendar and setting meetings/appointments on his behalf.

Maintaining Calendar updates and invites to Team Griffin and Team Lucas for all meetings for West Coast VP and individual SSE accounts with meeting recaps and next steps.

Updating and maintaining contact/client list for the West Coast Team.

Creating client lists and organizing business cards and contacts following trade shows and industry events.

Creating and updating group documents (client overviews, category overviews, trade show calendar, etc…).

Minimum 2-3 years of advertising sales or sales planning experience required

Must have a strong understanding & experience in media planning & online sales

Excellent interpersonal, communication, written & presentation skills

Proven ability to be self-motivating and work independently, as well as operate in fast-paced environment

Strong analytical ability for strategic sales development, including interpretation of media research and analysis for effective use as a sales tool

Ability to create promotional concepts that enhance clients’ marketing efforts

Sales experience working for a highly branded property

Proficient in Excel, Word, Strong PowerPoint, Photoshop, and screen grab software

Must have the ability to multi-task

Must possess the ability to articulate needs and accept direction

Must be able to take ownership of a project from start to finish, under direction as needed.
