As a Sales Specialist, you will complete a salaried, comprehensive training program that will prepare you for your role by giving you the confidence and competence to excel. The training includes a combination of classroom, online and on-the-job learning focused on building an understanding of the employee benefits marketplace, MetLife’s group, voluntary and worksite benefits, and professional telephone selling skills. You will hone your skills to be able to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
Centrally located in a Group Sales hub you will report to a Sales Specialist Manager. In conjunction with MetLife Account Executives, you will provide dedicated ‘elite’ sales support within a designated territory focusing on those areas with significant business/opportunity in the under 50 employer lives space. You will accomplish this by building rapport and fostering relationships with the aligned Account Executives, brokers and brokerage operational staff acting as the primary interface from MetLife.
Overview of Responsibilities:
Working independently, drive product sales and proactively retain cases within assigned territory
Promote Dental, Disability, Life and Voluntary Benefit products through expertise in the less than 50 lives segment, while driving awareness of MetLife’s capabilities in the greater than 50 lives space
Maintain and grow the book of business through new business sales, upsells, and renewals, within assigned territory
Identify brokerage relationship and prospect opportunities
Assist Brokers in navigating MetLife processes, product offerings and the overall organization
Aid in the development of business plans, broker training, prospecting support, and point of sale work
May conduct product training and product sales seminars
Identify customer needs and available internal resources to support planned sales activity
Follow-up on quote activity including gathering information and coordinating efforts with internal teams
Debrief on all proposal and renewal outcome and determine root cause for carrier selection (plan design, rates, etc)
Accountable for specific sales targets Job Requirements
High School Diploma with 1-2 years of previous insurance experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree without previous insurance experience
Life and Health licenses within 90 days of employment
Self-starter with ability to learn in a fast paced environment
Sales and relationship building acumen
Exceptional communication, presentation and relationship building skills Experience Required One to Three Years Education Required Bachelors Degree Preferred Business Category
