As a Veterinary Diagnostic Consultant, you’ll build relationships with veterinary customers and will be responsible for all sales related activities in your territory. In assuming this role, you’ll engage customers through knowledgeable interactions, business discussions and educational interactions. You’ll leverage your sales and closing skills to acquire new customers and strengthen relationships with existing customers and will build customer loyalty by enabling customers to effectively leverage IDEXX’s products and services. In helping veterinary practices grow their diagnostic revenue, you’ll establish yourself as a valued partner.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
·


Increasing the diagnostic revenue year over year in your territory
·
Translating customer needs into diagnostic solutions
·
Selling diagnostic equipment, tests and services to our customers
·
Increasing the utilization of in-house diagnostic tests and assays, instrument consumables and reference laboratory profiles and advanced tests among your customer base
·
Achieving quarterly and annual revenue and growth goals by acquiring new accounts and leveraging existing accounts
·
Where appropriate, utilizing IDEXX specialists to assist in the acquisition of new business
·
Educating and training veterinary clinic staff about products, services and marketing initiatives, including how to engage customer service when appropriate
·
Developing and growing partnerships with veterinary practice staff
·
Representing our mission, value and principles in your interactions with customers and markets
·
Presenting IDEXX’s values to our customers in a professional manner, including an understanding of our industry, veterinary practice, customers, technology, operations and processes
·
Completing all sales administration, including all Beacon requirements and territory management activities
·
Attending trade shows and other educational events
·
Achieving and maintaining medical and technical knowledge
·
Gaining and maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of IDEXX’s products and services
·
Managing your territory for optimal account coverage
·
Defining and verifying customer needs and expectations
·
Communicating customer needs and issues to IDEXX’s marketing organization and your business unit manager
·
Making service level modification recommendations for existing accounts
·
Communicating competitive issues to both IDEXX’s marketing organization and your business unit manager
·
Partnering with and assisting laboratory operations to ensure that customer questions and service issues are satisfactorily addressed and resolved
·
Managing IDEXX expenses and resources in line with company guidelines and directives
·
Performing other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities of this position include:

Valid driver’s license
·
Knowledge of the veterinary industry and/or veterinary diagnostics preferred
Qualifications
Education:
·


Bachelors degree in a scientific or related discipline or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
·
Scientific or advanced studies, or the equivalent of related experience
Experience:
·


Manufacturer sales experience preferred
·
Experience in a veterinary clinic setting a plus
·
We are hiring three levels of field sales:
o Level I – three to five years of experience
o Level II – five to eight years of experience
o Level III – more than eight years of experience
Physical demands of this job include:

Overnight travel

Some weekend work
·
Extensive car travel
·
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
