The School Improvement Facilitator is a key member of the EPO team who works intensively with school principals and school leadership teams to develop strategies to prepare students for graduation, higher education, and the work force. The Facilitator will provide resources and tools to build a culture in the school community focused on student learning and achievement, leadership development, school empowerment, and across-the-board accountability for improved outcomes for all students. The Facilitator also fosters peer-to-peer networking to facilitate the effective transfer of knowledge among school communities that will lead to school improvement at scale, and to meet city, state and federal accountability targets. As part of a wider team of New Visions' instructional, operational and analytical experts, the Facilitator will have access to the resources needed to ensure success in each school and across the cluster. Core Duties and Responsibilities
Act as primary point person for one of the city's persistently lowest achieving schools.
Assist school leaders in using data to analyze school and student data, to identify areas of strength or challenges, and to inform action plans for school improvement.
Work with school leaders to analyze student achievement data and set numerical targets in one or more of the following areas: attendance, graduation rate, credit accumulation, Regents passage, college readiness.
As part of an ongoing inquiry process, work with principal and instructional cabinet to identify strategies, milestones, and evidence of progress.
Use data systems (e.g., Datacation) to measure and monitor progress and efficacy of implemented instructional strategies.
Utilize effective organizational and instructional practices to meet each school's student achievement target.
Document challenges, efforts and knowledge sharing within and across networks using the SalesForce platform.
Work with operational team members to ensure schools are receiving highly effective and aligned operational support.
Help identify and align external supports to the mission, needs and priorities of the school community.
Identify best practices and effective tools within particular schools, and develop the mechanism to share and disseminate across all partner schools. Education and Experience
Masters-level degree.
Minimum of seven years of successful experience as a public or private school principal, and/or major supervisory and curriculum experience at the central or district office level; experience in New York City public schools a plus.
Demonstrated experience in supporting raising student achievement through instructional supports, youth development supports, use of data administrative, and/or programmatic means.
Expert knowledge of standardized testing and alternative assessments. Required Skill Sets and Knowledge Base
Proven record of success in improving outcomes for all students.
Demonstrated commitment to outcome-based accountability, data-driven decision-making, differentiated instruction, and continuous adult learning as drivers of improved student outcomes.
Strong service and support orientation towards schools and school communities.
