ClinicalRM is recruiting for Scientific/ Research Investigator 6 (NSN# 3016B) to work at USAMRIID in Frederick, MD.
Research areas to include virus functional genomics and proteomics.
Develop and utilize reverse genetics systems for viral agents of interest.
Perform analytical procedures including northern blot, Western blot, flow cytometry, and DNA sequencing (both Sanger and next generation platforms).
Develop and utilize high-throughput assays for application to new and next generation sequencing, and as needed support all functional aspects of the Genomic laboratory.
Establish and coordinate extramural collaborations and contracts to augment the research he or she directs.
Perform research on microbial pathogenesis and genomic response of immune system to microbial pathogens, critical to military mission.
Provide technical assistance to CRM Headquarters as needed and participate on proposal writing projects when requested.
Maintain a safe workplace ensuring that he/she is aware of and observes appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations. Employee is required to attend safety training relative to his/her position and report any infractions of safety procedures to the facility Safety Officer.
Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned.
Position requires a Ph.D., Biology, Microbiology, Pathology or Immunology +7years experience.
Must show proficiency in laboratory experimental executions under Biosafety Level 3 and Biosafety Level 4 (BSL 3/4) containment.
Must have experience developing and/or using reverse genetics systems of alphaviruses, filoviruses, and arenaviruses. Must have experience with new generation sequencing.
Enrollment in Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) for handling select agents, he/she must maintain enrollment.
Applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The selected individual must submit for and receive a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) security clearance background check.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: knowledge of applicable highly complex scientific procedures and techniques relating to position.
Must be able to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training.
