This is an exciting opportunity for an entry-level PhD synthetic organic chemist to participate in our innovative program in drug discovery. The position is within the Genentech Small-Molecule Drug Discovery Chemistry Department, located in our South San Francisco, CA research headquarters. A successful candidate will be responsible for designing and synthesizing analogs for molecular targets during the lead identification stage of drug discovery. The position requires an extensive knowledge of the modern synthetic chemistry literature, and the ability to quickly learn aspects of project biology and structure-based drug design.
Who You Are
Applicants must have a PhD in Organic Chemistry, with an emphasis on organic synthesis. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Additionally, the applicants should possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills and extensive technical knowledge in the field of organic synthesis. Prior laboratory experience with parallel synthetic and purification techniques is appreciated. Applicants should convey robust analytical skills, a strong record of achievement, and demonstrated ability in effectively interacting with teams.
