BioPhase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for San Diego's Scientific community. We are currently looking for a Scientist to work for a leading San Diego biotechnology company.
As a key member of the Biochemistry Department, the qualified candidate will be responsible for moving drugs into development by participating in drug discovery projects and leading new target identification/validation efforts. The successful candidate will have a well-documented background of scientific expertise in molecular and cellular tumor biology, tumor immunology, and an abiding interest in drug discovery. Preferred candidates will be well-versed in the tumor microenvironment and tumor immunology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated in a team environment are essential. The position will require 80% laboratory bench work and 20% office work. It is expected that this individual will have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (Tumor Immunology, Oncology, Cell Biology, Biological Chemistry) with at least 6 years experience ( post-doc in academia or industry). Previous experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is desirable.
Tasks and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Complete technical assignments by designing, executing and interpreting complex mechanistic studies
Lead from the bench, sharing ideas, techniques and approaches
Manage and/or coordinates workflow on multiple projects
Apply diverse scientific knowledge to assignments
Development of research tools
Analyze and present data in professional, â€œpublication readyâ€ format
Technical Skills Required:
Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Expertise in multicolor Flow Cytometry and cell sorting
Demonstrated ability to generate engineered mammalian cell lines for target validation and other cell-based assays
Expertise in fluorescent imaging technologies and high content screening
Experience with affinity purification of proteins, electrophoresis and Western blotting
Must have excellent cell culture technique and experience culturing multiple cell types (suspension, adherent and 3-D cultures) and developing co-cultures models
