This position is responsible for the execution and implementation of key microbiology and food safety programs within a specific business sector. The role requires familiarity with HACCP plan development and validation and provides microbiological consultations to Operations, Sector Quality, Marketing, Corporate Auditing, Corporate Sanitation, and R&D.
The successful candidate will also develop product safety limits, review food safety programs, conduct risk assessments, design and execute challenge studies as well as work with suppliers/co-manufacturers to implement and support similar programs. The role requires resolution of food safety deficiencies and evaluation of corrective actions. The candidate will also work closeley with R&D in the development, testing, commercialization, and launch of new products as well as existing line extensions. They will assess new processes, environments, practices, and modifications to assure compliance to common food safety practices as well as specific Kraft policies.
S/he will also provide support, as needed, to Business Units / Region with Technical visits to potential and existing suppliers/co-manufacturers to verify that key Food Safety and Microbiology programs are in place and validated. In addition, work with business partners to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
The position requires approximately 50% travel within North America.
MS/PhD required in Microbiology, Food Safety, or closely related discipline

2+ years applied microbiology experience
2+ years Quality/HACCP Design/Implementation.GMP/Pathogen Environmental Monitoring desired
Excellent problem solving and technical skills
Strong written/verbal communication skills (reports, presentations, executive summaries)
Ability to multi-task effectively
Knowledge of Microbiological Laboratory Techniques
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer competencies
