A Scrum Master at Agilex is responsible for moving our Solution Teams forward following our Agile Development Life Cycle (ADLC).

The Scrum Master will serve as a dedicated team member who has the primary responsibility to support their self-organizing, self-managing team successfully achieve their daily, iteration, and release goals and delivery objectives. They do so by effectively applying, implementing and enforcing Scrum principles and practices, facilitating continuous improvement, and identifying and removing team impediments. The Scrum Master will also help protect the team from outside influences, which could otherwise interfere with the teams ability to deliver value in a short time-box (iteration). The Scrum Master will mentor the empowered teams and serves as the leadership proxy whose role is to assist the team in its transition to the new method, continuously facilitate a team dynamic intended to maximize performance of the team, and by continuously improving agile practices.

As such, the Scrum Master has four major responsibilities:
  • Facilitating the team’s progress toward the goal: The Scrum Masters will serve as a trained team facilitator constantly engaged in challenging the old norms of development while keeping the team focused on the goals of the iteration
  • Leading the team’s efforts in continuous improvement: The Scrum Master will help the team improve, helping the team take responsibility for their actions, and helping the team become problem solvers for themselves
  • Enforcing the rules of the agile process: The Scrum Master will enforce the rules of agile with the team
  • Eliminating impediments: The Scrum Master will remove any blocking issues beyond the team’s authority or will solicit support from other teams/stakeholders until a resolution is reached, so that the team can remain focused on achieving the objectives of the iteration
Job Qualifications

A qualified candidate must have the following:
  • Demonstrated Scrum Master experience with Agile development methodologies and processes (Scrum in particular) on actual multiple project/program engagements required
  • Strong Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) experience required
  • Works with their team(s) to meet established Sprint and Release goals through primary responsibilities of eliminating impediments, facilitating and training on agile processes, and leading continuous improvement efforts within their team
  • Facilitates preparation and leading of agile process events including agile planning, demo/Sprint review and collaborative / design sessions
  • Uses agile estimation techniques to help the team and program estimate features, epics, and user stories
  • Conduct daily stand-up meetings, planning and review sessions, prioritize tasks and mitigate road blocks
  • Provide guidance and direction for developers, QA resources, and technical specialists on all assigned projects
  • Contribute as needed in software development, software testing/QA and requirements analysis activities
  • Familiarity with continuous integration practices and principles
  • Familiarity with test driven development/design practices and principles
  • Familiarity with automated testing practices and principles
  • Familiarity with user acceptance testing and principles
  • Coordinates teams operating under architectural and portfolio governance, system level integration, and system demos
  • Coordinates with other team Scrum Masters in the Scrum-of-Scrums
  • Coordinates with other Scrum Masters, teams, and shared resources during cross-team, cross-dependency Release Planning meetings
  • Helps eliminate obstacles to the adoption of enterprise software lifecycle processes and technical practices
  • Regularly reading about latest development in lean/agile areas through reading, courses, conferences, and webinars
  • Work effectively with dynamic, integrated teams consisting of Agilex and Government customer representatives (development and programmatic)
  • Work closely with Government customer and Agilex senior management to identify product feature delivery risk and mitigation strategies
  • Work closely with Government customer and the Product Management team in identify and perform the necessary individual and team agile project management and engineering training to ensure success
  • Excellence in both strategic and tactical planning, time management, meeting deadlines, and operating under tight time constraints
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including organizational, team building, people management, issue resolution, and customer relationship management
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization with both internal and external customers
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with proven ability to lead and manage projects with medium to high levels of technical and/or functional complexity
  • Demonstrated ability to systematically gather relevant information from different sources to address an issue and make a prompt and insightful decision
  • Previous experience working with Government clients is required, and experience working with DHS clients is highly desirable
  • Understanding of business development process leading to Federal Government business
  • Willingness to work full-time on client site with the technical staff
  • Ability to work on site at client facility (Alexandria and/or Springfield, Virginia) without travel or relocation
Professional Certifications:
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) (required)
  • Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) (preferred)
  • Project Management Institute - Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) (preferred)
  • Project Management Institute - Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP) (preferred)
Education:In addition, a qualified candidate should have the following:
  • 7+ years experience in leading multiple software development project teams
  • 5+ years experience in leading multiple agile software development project teams
  • Bachelors or appropriate relevant experience
Clearance:
  • United States Citizenship and the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Public Trust clearance
