Working with multiple cross-functional engineering teams, the Scrum Master leads by example rather than by dictate, knows how to bring out the best in people and is not afraid to deal with conflicts. An effective Scrum Master knows when it's good to say 'no' and when to push for great results.

Duties and responsibilities include:

1) Facilitate Agile process for the platform team
• Maintain physical and digital Agile boards in sync with JIRA tickets; create additional tickets as necessary
• Work with the engineering guilds to identify and remove impediments
• Lead sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, sprint reviews and retrospectives
• Attend product planning/prioritization meetings, backlog grooming, stand-ups, and sprint planning sessions
• Produce burn-down charts to predict sprint health
• Measure and steer sprint deliverables
2) Document, coordinate and orchestrate release process on push days
• Document change control checklist in advance of push day, including prerequisites, push steps and post-requisites
• Maintain active discussion and highlight any open issues in the push day (Campfire) chat room.
3) Coordinate hotfix resources and timing

• Attitude of empowerment - Must be able to lead a team to self-organize
• Attitude of transparency – Must desire to bring transparency to the business around development and grow business trust
• Technical aptitude – Must understand basic fundamentals of iterative development (certified Scrummaster a plus); must understand the value of commitments made by a development team; must understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics; must understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity and task breakdown; must be familiar with common Agile practices, service-oriented architectures and evolving development practices
