Reports to Store Team Leader and to Associate Store Team Leader, provides overall management and supervision of the Seafood Department. Responsible for all Team Member hiring, development, and terminations. Also responsible for profitability, expense control, buying/merchandising, regularity compliance, and special projects as assigned. Complete accountability for all aspects of department operations.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Member Development
Consistently, communicate and model Whole Foods vision and goal.
Interview, select, train, develop, and counseling Team Members in a manner, which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turn over. Make hiring and Team out placement decisions with guidance of Store Team Leader.
Establish and maintain a positive work environment, which sustains an exceptionally high level of Team Member morale.
Select and develop supervisors as potential Team Leaders.
Provide timely, thorough and thoughtful Performance evaluations.
Communication and maintain employee safety and security standards.
Financial Management
Manage inventory and pricing to achieve targeted gross profit margin.
Project annual sales and expenses, and prepare annual operating budget.
Achieve budgeted expense levels. Achieve department profit, and store profit contribution targets.
Maintain exceptional level of customer service relations.
Maintain awareness of new products, and regularly incorporate new products into overall product mix.
Manage the buying/ordering process to meet Whole Foods Market quality standards, maintain competitive pricing and achieve targeted sales.
Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
Merchandising/Marketing Management

Develop and maintain creative product merchandising.
Establish creative and competitive weekly and monthly "specials' which support established merchandising and marketing themes.
Sustain exceptional level of knowledge/awareness of relevant competitors and industry trends.
Communication
Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Store Team Leader, Seafood Coordinator, Team Leaders, and all Team Members.
Model and cultivate effective inter-department and inter-store communication.
Management Reporting
Provide accurate, complete information in daily, weekly, monthly, annual and "ad hoc" management reports.
Thorough and complete documentation in support of Team Member discipline and counseling activities.
Regulatory Compliance
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with relevant regularity rules and standards, including:
 OSHA
 Department of Labor
 Health and Sanitation
 FDA
 Department of Agriculture
 Weights and Measures
 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
 HACCP Guidelines

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
One year relevant experience as a Associate Seafood Team Leader or equivalent.
Thorough knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
Passion and appreciation for ultimate customer service.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong organizational skills.
Patient and enjoys working and mentoring people.
Knowledge of all relevant Whole Foods Market policies and standards.
Ability to perform opening and closing procedures.
Ability to perform physical requirements of position.
Ability to work rotating shifts Monday through Sunday including some holidays.
