Applications are now being accepted to join our team as a Seasonal Building Inspector within the Community Development Department. This is a temporary, seasonal position working up to full-time hours for up to 11 months out of the year, typically Monday through Friday, although some weekend work may be required. Work hours can vary based on inspection activity.

Duties include inspection of newly constructed, altered or repaired buildings and / or existing structures including various building systems and components for compliance with city approvals and all necessary codes and standards. Reviews and analyzes architectural and/or engineering plans and specifications, engineering calculations, shop drawings, technical data, research reports, and special inspection reports. Provide code analysis and work diplomatically with stakeholders to resolve highly technical existing building code issues relating to fire safety, building function, and building sustainability. Maintains productive and positive working relationships with contractors, the public and fellow employees.

QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Science and Technology or equivalent combination of formal education and experience. Three years' experience in a municipality and relevant ICC Certifications preferred. Must have valid driver's license with good driving record. The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and background investigation. Starting salary is $19.65-26.78 per hour, benefits include 30 hours of paid leave after 30 days of employment.
