Groundman assists the electric and gas crews with construction and maintenance projects. (This position has potential for recall after seasonal layoff)

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards
· Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and strategic business objectives
· Driving truck and stocking materials on line trucks
· Operating a hand line for linemen
· Hand digging ditches and pole holes
· Cleaning trucks and shop
· Majority of job time is spent outdoors in a variety of weather extremes with exposure to electric, chemical and machinery hazards
· Most job time spent standing, walking and bending with very limited sitting
· Continuous lifting of materials weighing 20 to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds is necessary
· Overtime and extended hours may be required
· Call out and shift work required
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS · Must be able to demonstrate a good safety record
· Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
· Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
· Must be able to work with other employees and customers in a safe and efficient manner
· Must be able to follow instructions as directed and communicate and interact positively with fellow employees, customers, and supervisors
· Must have a history of good overtime call-out availability and adherence to safe working practices and procedures
· Must have a valid Montana State driver’s license, CDL preferred
· Looking for candidates with interest/aptitude potential to move into apprenticeship.
