Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and unskilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair and restoration of Open Space park trails.
These are temporary positions to last until approximately October 1, 2013, work schedule will be four 10 hour days, Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday.
Work involves constructing trails, using heavy equipment and power tools. Employee is responsible for maintaining trails, installing erosion control devices and inspecting the trail system. Work also involves vegetation control, snow removal, constructing stairs, tie walls and fencing and assisting in the supervision of Trail Stewardship Team field crews and Volunteer Program.
High school diploma or equivalent supplemented with additional course work in Natural Resource Management, Outdoor Recreation, Park Maintenance or related field preferred and minimum of one year of experience in youth supervision and/or trail maintenance/construction preferred.
Offer of employment contingent on criminal history and motor vehicle record checks.
Must have a valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must have a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date, and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.; must be available to work irregular hours, to include weekends, evenings and holidays. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including skid steer, roller/compactor, water pump, trail blazer, turf blazer, tractor, snowplow, snowmobiles, trencher, sandblaster, etc. Requires ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
