Secretary (Job Opening 373022) - Scope of Position: Provides secretarial support for Patient Education within the department of Nursing Staff Development and Patient Education, including answering multi-line telephone, copying, ordering supplies, and preparing publications/program support. Hours are primarily days, Monday through Friday.
Position Summary: Works under the general supervision of the Director, providing secretarial support for NSD/PE Department. Coordinates office management systems. Acts as a liaison for the Program Manager for Patient Education, handles scheduling, brochure ordering, patient education material tracking. Work is conducted in an active office environment. Support of teaching and research activities within the office. Creative ability and computer skills using various software programs. Strong organizational skills required.
Education and Experience
Six months experience (600 hours training) using computers to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex; 6 mos. experience (600 hrs course work) in office practices and procedures; 6 months experience (600 hours course work) in customer service. (Including license, if any.) Some positions require one year related medical secretarial experience or completion of an associate's degree program with three courses in medical terminology plus 3 mos. experience (300 hours training) in use of word processing equipment, consistent with position description. Some positions require 6 mos. experience (600 hrs course work) in supervision consistent with position description.
Preferred Qualifications: One year experience providing administrative support for a physician(s), one year experience providing administrative support within an academic office, one year experience with calendar management, one year experience using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), one year experience registering patients for appointments or procedures, one year experience with electronic scheduling (i.e. IDX Scheduling/IDX Radiology), one year experience with inpatient or outpatient scheduling, one year experience in a secretarial based role, one year experience coordinating travel arrangements.
