Position Title: Secretary-Director of Athletics and Student Activities

Class II-43 weeks/year (Starting rate: $15.06 + full benefits)


SUMMARY: Serves as secretary and treasurer to the director of athletics and student activities and assists in coordinating needs of the various coaches.

Answers routine phone inquiries, takes messages, and routes calls.
Serves as treasurer for the athletic department.
Types, prepares and creates reports, distributes mail and other information, files, maintains records, prepares correspondence, mailings, awards, and other clerical work as related to needs and building functions.
Serves as a bookkeeper. Handle accounts; collect fees; make bank deposits; maintain ledgers; pay bills; prepare financial statements and reports including the balance sheet; receipt money; reconcile bank account; set up cash box for events; keep the supervisor informed as to the balances of internal accounts; and prepare payroll.
Maintains team rosters, programs for events, schedules travel and coordinates food for teams.
Sells tickets for all school events.
Coordinates hospitality rooms/banquets.
Coordinates graduation and senior nights for athletics.
Assists in maintaining concession stand supplies.
Maintains regular attendance.

May occasionally supervise students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous office experience preferred.


Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, instructions, and documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly and concisely using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to speak effectively with good grammar before groups of people and with individuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.


Ability to operate personal and mainframe computers and related software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to work independently, to function effectively in a multi-task environment, and to interact positively with the public. Ability to perform duties with awareness of and in compliance with related corporation policies and state requirements.
