Phase One Consulting Group is seeking a Security Engineer to work directly with Government staff, providing support to a team of system and server administrators to support secure operations. The Security Engineer will also be expected to be an expert in IT security, offering expertise on projects to ensure adherence to Federal standards, protection, integrity, availability and confidentiality of IT infrastructure. The Security Engineer should be a self-starter, motivated, and willing to take the initiative to solve problems in different ways.
Work on a high-performance team that designs, develops, integrates and tests security solutions that solve a range of critical problems in an operational environment
Expertise in Unix system security administration and configuration including methods to secure Unix based servers to meet security requirements/reduce unauthorized access
Ensure compliance with certification and accreditation requirements
Research, configure, and apply security patches in Unix environment
Work across the team to provide security analysis and support to system/server admins
Disable services to secure the Unix server environment
Identify and resolve security problems on servers running Unix OS
5 years of experience in information security, working in a Unix environment to provide recommendations and implement controls to ensure security
Understanding of TCP/IP networking and common networking hardware
Familiarity with Cyber Security tools, including: Configuration Assessment (e.g. eEye Retina), Log Aggregation (e.g. Splunk, Trigeo, Loglogic), Integrity Verification (e.g. OSSec, Tripwire), Web Application Security Testing (e.g. HP WebInspect, AppSec AppDetective), Network Access Control System (e.g. Cisco NAC, BigFix, Trustwave solutions), Hardware Inventory (e.g. Scriptlogic, ManageEngine AssetExplorer, BigFix), Software Inventory (e.g. Scriptlogic, ManageEngine AssetExplorer), and Honeypot Implementation
Deep understanding of virtual environments (VMWare) and the implementation of security tools and controls in such environments
Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
Security+, CISSP, GIAC, or similar industry certification desired
Candidates must be able to work on-site at Federal agencies located in Washington, D.C. and must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge
