LOCATION: DOMS, Camp Dodge, JMTC, Johnston, IA.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard. Controls access, directs traffic, and checks identification of those persons entering and leaving Federal or State Military Reservations property. Detects and reports suspicious activity or situations. Responsible for maintenance of physical security, access control protection of life and property, and crime prevention actions within the jurisdiction of the National Guard. Independently, or with other physical security personnel, performs assigned tasks on fixed or foot patrol or special physical patrol. Other duties include: Standing fixed posts (gates); maintaining integrity of assigned posts and areas; responsible for detention/apprehension of all persons attempting unauthorized entry into Federal or State Military Reservations controlled by the State National Guard; performing all traffic control duties as prescribed by assignment and instructions; protecting private and public property; observing and reports security violations;performing police and fire dispatch duties;reporting all routine and extraordinary events, situations, and circumstances to immediate supervisor promptly and accurately. Upon notification, responds to emergency recall of security personnel to assigned area within a specific time parameter. Attends and participates in scheduled training programs as assigned and Watch briefing prior to beginning of work. Uses and maintains physical security equipment and tools, such as vehicular and portable radios, firearms, side-handled batons, Kevlar helmets, equipment belts and other equipment as assigned. SECURITY CLEARANCE: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a NACI clearance as required by this position. If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date. Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, training or education which demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read and understand a variety of instructions, regulations and procedures.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must indicate 12 months of the following specialized experience:
Experience which demonstrates knowledge of DoD, Department of Army, State and National Guard instructions and regulations relating to security.
Experience which demonstrates knowledge of specialized operating requirements, methods, and procedures used in safeguarding State or national defense sites.
Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life.
Experience which demonstrates the ability to carry and qualify with small arms to include 9mm handgun or M-16 rifle or other weapons as determined by the existing needs.
Experience which demonstrates the ability to enforce stringent regulations, maintain order, question trespassers, answer inquires and aid persons in distress.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: 2 years above the high school level will qualify the candidate at the GS-04 level. Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local law, or investigative techniques is considered qualifying for specialized experience at the GS-04 level on a month-for-month basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS), LISTED BELOW, WILL BE USED IN THE SELECTION PROCESS. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ARE IMPORTANT TO THE ENTIRE SELECTION PROCESS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED SPECIFICALLY AND COMPLETELY IN THE APPLICATION .

OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
A pre-employment physical or medical screening may be required for placement to this position.
Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT) program as a condition of employment.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT : Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a security clearance as required by the position.
Failure to complete NGB prescribed courses at the PEC for new FTS personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.
Note: Permanent Change of Station (PCS ) allowance may not be authorized for this position. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Government.
