North East Medical Services (NEMS), a non-profit outpatient multi-specialty clinic located in San Francisco, has an opening for a Full-Time Security Guard. Under the direction of the Building Manager, the security officer is responsible for the safety and security of the clinic.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the safety and security of the clinic
  • Assist visitors and patients with a legitimate need to gain entry to the facility
  • Monitor and patrol clinic areas on a consistent basis
  • Greet and provide general information to visitors and patients
  • Tour clinic to check for unsafe conditions, security violations, fire hazards, and mechanical problems
  • Observe, report, and investigate any suspicious activity to appropriate authorities
  • Report and document all incidents and complete daily security reports
  • Identify and neutralize potential threats to NEMS personnel, patients and property
  • Deal with all security related issues that may arise
  • Facilitate and ensure safety of visitors and employees in the event of an emergency evacuation
  • Exercise judgment and use discretion in dealing with emergency and security violations
  • Assist with office moves as necessary
  • Perform light maintenance work such as mounting equipment on walls, repairing fixtures, mounting shelving and other maintenance jobs
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Minimum High School education degree and 1-2 years experience in a security role
  • Current California State Proprietary Private Security Officer card (if not, certificates will be obtained within 3 months of hire date) and successful completion of required training
  • Ability to lift and push a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Outstanding customer service skills and focus
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check
  • Ability to get along well with staff and patients
  • Bilingual (Cantonese / English) is a plus
