The Security Project Consultant supports projects by undertaking risk assessments, advising on implementation of security measures, recommending appropriate risk mitigations, interpreting security policy and standards in the context of projects and busin The Security Project Consultant supports projects by undertaking risk assessments, advising on implementation of security measures, recommending appropriate risk mitigations, interpreting security policy and standards in the context of projects and business scenarios to help the business operate securely. This role has a significant component in defining security requirements and ensuring that all projects meet these requirements, or that exceptions and issues are noted and remediated as appropriate.

In order to succeed you must be able to :
  • Design and Implement technical security solutions such as IDS/IPS, secure remote access, firewalls, encryption, secure protocols, data protection, data loss prevention and identity management solutions.
  • Provide e xpertise in security architecture including knowledge of IT network security (secure LAN, WAN, vLAN, MPLS, and secure network zoning and restricted network design) and database, operating system and application security.
  • Understand data and information flows, information governance, network protocols.
  • Have knowledge of security hardening techniques and policy development, particularly operating system hardening (e.g. Windows, UNIX, Oracle).
  • R epresent company on industry or security standards bodies or focus groups
  • I ncorporate technical security controls at each stage of the software development lifecycle pro operate as a highly independent worker and as part of a strong team/collaborative approach.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors and/or Masters preferred
  • Seven (7) + years of IS Security experience
  • Security certification such as M.Inst.ISP, CISSP, CISA, CISM preferred.
  • Prior Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and utility industry experience preferred.
  • Experience of security hardening techniques and policy development, particularly operating system hardening (e.g. Windows, UNIX, Oracle).
  • Appreciation of wider information security related principles, likely to be gained in industry or from a consultancy background.
  • Strong communication, leadership and partnering skills.
  • Abl ity to demonstrate a high degree of credibility and influence senior stakeholders within the Organization.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering business requirements to time and budget constraints.
  • Previous experience of smart grid technologies, SCADA systems and an awareness of smart grid related security threats.
  • Prior Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and utility industry experience preferred.
