The candidate for this position will be responsible for:
The preparation of Statutory and GAAP financial statements including balance sheet statements, disclosures and other supporting and supplemental schedules and exhibits for filings. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports organization's finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Familiar with a variety of the financial concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Four year college degree in accounting, Masters a plus, CPA required, 5 plus years of Statutory and GAAP Experience required
Primary Job Functions
Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual closing statements and reports, including written premium, losses and income.
Running periodic financial reports, including monthly and quarterly analytics as assigned, including research of variances.
Preparation of STAT and GAAP statements and reconciliations.
Responsible for monthly closing process and reporting.
Respond to audit requests, including IRS, state & local, and insurance departments.
Responsible for coordinating and leading efforts to complete special projects as requested.
Directly accountable for the preparation and completion of all supplemental reporting/filings for 4Warranty and any related Fortegra companies.
Responsible for limited cash and client reconciliations.
Maintain/prepare procedure manuals as needed.
Assist with conversions of new business, to include setting up reporting and system profiles to capture monthly activity.
Education and Skill Requirements
â¢ Four year college degree in accounting, Masters a plus, CPA required
â¢ Oracle General Ledger experience
â¢ Proficient Excel User
â¢ Advanced knowledge and understanding of statutory accounting principles and fundamentals
â¢ Three to five years experience in the insurance industry
â¢ Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected to accomplish tasks
â¢ Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
â¢ High degree of tact and good judgment, especially with auditors and outside agencies
â¢ Advanced mathematical, software, and problem solving skills
â¢ Be a self starter and show ability to meet deadlines and goals in a limited time frame
â¢ Ability to effectively deal with other company departments and outside agencies
â¢ Ability to work independently, requires minimal supervision, and makes effective decisions to complete work assignments
â¢ Ability to work well with associates in other areas on required work assignments
