SUPERVISOR: Accounting Manager

CATEGORY: Full-time Salaried

DAYS/HOURS: Mon-Fri 9:00am-5:00pm


The Sr. Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for the daily functions of the fiscal department with an emphasis on the monthly, quarterly and annual financual closing and reporting of the Organization. The Sr. Accountant also supports the Director of Grant and Budget Administration with the annual budget and monthly and quarterly preparation and filing of city and state agency expense reimbursement vouchers.

  • Assets and liabilities accounts analyses
  • Bank statements reconciliation
  • Fixed assets schedule maintenance and recording of depreciation expenses
  • Preparation of journal entries and cash receipts entries
  • Preparation of journal entries and schedules for fiscal period-end closings
  • Maintenance of cash receipts journals
  • Preparation of Sales & Tax filing reports
  • Review of Accounts Payable vouchers
  • Maintenance of vendors' profile
  • Maintenance of foundation temporary restricted contributions schedule
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Controller with documentation and monitoring internal control
  • Annual budget upload and maintenance
  • Mid-year financial projections
  • Monthly and quarterly financial trends
  • Maintenance of cash flow projections schedule
Financial Reporting
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Controller with preparation and review of financial statements
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Chart-of-Accounts and department cost center maintenance
  • Assist fiscal management with ad-hoc projects
Grant Accounting
  • Prepare claims to various public agencies
  • Monitor budget to actual expenditures; schedule period meetings with Department Heads to discuss major variances, and develop budge modifications
  • Analyze general ledger and prepare required journal entries
  • Serve as primary liaison with funding sources and auditors for the agency
  • B.S. in Accounting
  • 1 to 3+ years of accounting experience, preferable in the non-for-profit environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Dynamic SL preferred
  • Heavy computer use
  • Office
