Our firm, INTERMEDIA GROUP, a large US Based Retained Staffing Agency, has been asked by our client to aid in filling the below listed requirement.

JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant

Department: Financial Accounting and Reporting


Location: Jersey City, NJ (zip - 07309)

Type: Consultant / Contract

Duration: 3-6 months

Department/Area Function:
o Financial Accounting and Reporting compiles, process, and prepares the financial statements of The Firm and its subsidiaries. Financial statements are filed with various regulators, both domestically and internationally, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the New York State Banking Department (NYSBD) in the United States, and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in London. Financial statements are also filed with Companies House in London.

Principal Responsibilities:
o Compile and analyze financial information to prepare for the monthly

o Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close

o Resolve accounting discrepancies after a variance analysis

o Management of Ledger types (AC, CA, AA) for foreign affiliates

o Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures

o Full responsibility for ensuring the proper treatment of FX issues (revaluation/restatements)

o Responsibility for the preparation of General Ledger entries and reconciliations in a timely manner

o Balance sheet and P&L monthly analysis

o Prepare cash and accrual expense analysis

o Special assignments in connection with new business ventures

o Financial analysis of business proposals

o Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of the chart of accounts, including product hierarchies

o Ensure timely analysis and accuracy of data between different accounting systems (JDE, BPC)

o Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends

o Develop and update departmental policies and procedures

o Intercompany analysis and true-up

o Ad hoc reporting for audit and management needs

o Assist in preparation of financial statements and support (US GAAP and IFRS)

o 5 to 7 years of progressive financial analysis and reporting experience, in industry or with a major public accounting firm

General Purpose:
o General accounting including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting management in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
o Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA a plus

o CPA preferred

o Strong financial background

o Strong analytical, research, problem solving skills, and attention to detail and accuracy

o Exposure to multi-national companies and cross-border transactions

o Analysis of accounting treatment for new businesses

o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral

o Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)

o Exposure to Oracle accounting software (JD Edwards and Hyperion) a must

o Working knowledge of FX transactions and translation
