Job Purpose (Job Summary)
Under limited supervision, the Senior Accountant assists in accounting and SEC reporting for consolidated investment products, including CLOs, private equity funds, and real estate funds. This position will evaluate new funds for potential consolidation, compile quarterly fair value and other footnote disclosures, maintain department SOX documentation, serve as a liaison to external auditors, research and document technical accounting issues, and complete special projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Assists in the preparation of financial reports in accordance with GAAP, regulatory, and Invesco policies. Ensures that reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepares schedules and journal entries related to various complex accounting matters including consolidation of investment products as well as valuation of assets and liabilities.
Assures correct accounting for financial transactions.
Understands risks associated within financial statement areas and recognizes SOX implications of changes.
Identifies internal control issues and inefficiencies and makes recommendations for improvement.
Maintains proper Sarbanes-Oxley documentation on areas of responsibility in scope for SOX audits and ensures compliance with documented controls.
Performs account analyses and variance analyses.
Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations.
Prepares supporting schedules for annual audit reports, answers questions, and works with auditors on the annual audit.
Keeps abreast of current trends, accounting procedures, and financial reporting rules (SEC rules) by networking with peers, attending industry meetings/seminars, and reading professional journals.
Plans and coordinates schedule and priorities for self and other members of the team without prompting from supervisor.
Normal work environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
May be required to lift, carry, or move weights of up to 10 pounds.
Frequent sitting and visual concentration is also required.

Work Experience / Knowledge
A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience at a public accounting or public reporting company is required.
Supervisory experience is a plus.
Must have a solid understanding of accounting and financial principles and be able to apply these principles to corporate accounting.
Must have knowledge of SOX requirements.
Knowledge of ASC810 and ASC820 is a plus.

Must be able to discuss work areas assigned and answer managers' questions regarding investment products and valuation of assets and liabilities.
Must be able to perform a perfunctory level of research within relevant accounting literature to assist in determining proper accounting treatment for financial transactions.
Must be able to apply proper accounting treatment with minimal guidance.
Must be able to identify variance, determine cause of variance, and document findings.
Must be able to balance accounts, identify, document, and ensure timely resolution on reconciling issues.
Must have a demonstrated ability to lead projects.
Should demonstrate an ability to explain areas of responsibility to auditors and be able to identify proper documentation required to satisfy audit requests.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior management (verbal, written, and presentation).
Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals.
Must demonstrate strong analytical skills and be proficient reviewing financial data.
Must be able to utilize computer equipment and software, specifically spreadsheet applications.
Must be able to cooperate in a team environment.
