JOB SUMMARY:
This position manages a professional staff of

three individuals.

This individual and individuals within their organization analyzes basic through complex transactions to support the development of GAAP compliant financial statements as well as support internal and external financial reporting, account analysis, generation and posting of more complex journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, validation and verification, and adhoc analysis.

Additionally, position includes independent auditor interaction (preparation/review of PBC schedules and face/face communication).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functional Expertise:
Manage a professional staff of 3

Oversees the recording of basic to complex transactions; determines and makes appropriate adjustments.

Oversees the performance of complex general ledger account reconciliations; analyzes and researches outstanding items/issues.

Manages and coordinates the generation of standard and non-standard reports; analyzes data; tests for reasonableness.

Participates and/or leads special projects.

Business Acumen:
Calculates, reviews, and analyzes financial information; analyzes variances; uses professional judgment and expertise to perform complex estimates and calculations.

Provides well-developed professional expertise and decision making abilities.

Monitors and analyes expenditures and balance sheet variances

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Independently and creatively solves problems.

Engagement:
Works with customers (internal and external) to resolve problems; answers questions and provides accounting guidance and recommendations.

Collaborates and builds effective relationships with stakeholders

Coordinates month-end close process

Driving Results:
Responsible for monitoring progress against goals/deliverables; holds self and other accountable for results

Follows organizational policies and procedures

Provides continuous process improvement suggestions and assists with implementations.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Certifications/Licenses:
Required:
BA/BS degree in Accounting

Or equivalent academic education and experience

Preferred:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Related Work Experience:
Required:
6 to 7 + years advanced accounting experience performing complex financial analysis and research

Or equivalent academic education and experience

Preferred:
Supervisory experience a plus

Public accounting experience a plus

Utility industry experience a plus

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
Required:
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Common ERP (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) and reporting (e.g., TM1, Essbase, etc.) experience – intermediate proficiency

MS Word – intermediate proficiency

MS Excel – intermediate to advanced proficiency

Strong organizational and cross-functional coordination skills

Team player and with the ability to work independently

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Travel Requirements:
10 to 20% annually. The incumbent may be required to travel.

Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.

Work Environment:
The incumbent works in an office environment.
