NI has 2013 openings for experienced Senior Analog Hardware Engineers who will enjoy challenging work, the unique opportunity to take ownership of their products to ensure designs meet technical specifications and business goals, and be involved in all aspects of product development - design, prototyping, development, testing, and manufacturing production. NI Hardware Engineers work on projects and product areas that include data/image acquisition, instrumentation, communications, embedded CPU, motion control, and embedded circuits.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform research as required to define, specify, and develop products
  • Implement and test designs through CAD and synthesis tools
  • Test designs using a hardware prototype
  • Develop software for testing the product and work with NI software engineers to implement system-level and other software integration
  • Diagnose and debug technical challenges with products or problems arising when your products interact or integrate with other NI products
  • Facilitate support required from Engineering Services (drafting, layout, mechanical design) and other R&D groups, Manufacturing, Product Marketing, and other departments to ensure successful development and timely product release
  • Provide technical expertise and training to Applications Engineers, customers, or any other person as required for others using and supporting your products
  • Share your expertise/technical knowledge and advise others on computer and electrical engineering technologies and circuit design
  • Lead team to develop product documentation
  • Review and approve product specifications and customer user documentation
  • Provide technical expertise and training as needed to AEs, Product Support Engineers, Technical Writers, customers, or others who use and/or support your products

    Position Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in analog design with expertise in both frequency-domain and time-domain designs, or control systems design
  • BS/MS in electrical engineering or computer engineering
  • Expert knowledge of analog design principles including designs using operational amplifiers, filters, and transistors
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in: analog to digital and digital to analog converters; power supply components and design; analog testing/troubleshooting techniques; signal integrity, layout, and grounding principles; basic digital design fundamentals
  • Very strong understanding of computers and programming languages (i.e. C, C++, LabVIEW, assembly language)
  • Passion for learning about and working with analog, digital, & other computer technologies
  • Strong work ethic and drive to succeed
  • Demonstrated ability to: apply diagnostic insight to identify technical problems, propose viable options, and apply technical solutions; quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products; take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently; work effectively in a team development environment; persistently drive tasks and projects to successful completion; take ownership of goals and schedules; manage time well; enjoy problem solving; grasp and engage in fast-paced technical conversations
  • English Language Competency and effective communication skills - Can clearly and concisely communicate in English, so that persons you work with can understand you clearly, particularly in technical conversations
