The Senior Analyst – Market and Product Research is responsible for identifying strategic opportunities by researching potential customer segments and market opportunities.

The incumbent will be responsible for collecting relevant data, drawing insights and making recommendations to senior management and executives based on the completed research.

The individual must be able to translate customer and market needs that align with our product/service offerings in a way that maximizes customer value and differentiates American Tower in the marketplace.

The incumbent will identify the total addressable market size for customer segments or vertical markets and make recommendations on ways to drive significant market share.

This individual will be responsible for developing and supporting best-in-class market research methodology and supporting techniques to meet business objectives.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Research potential customer segments and potential market size to understand their needs and identify market opportunities.

Research enterprise applications that require wireless infrastructure and identify applicable customer segments to target.

Research internal and external customer data to understand factors driving existing business opportunities and identify proactive, solution-based proposals to further differentiate American Tower from its competitors.

Recommend pricing strategies for new customer segments and applications based on existing market conditions, perceived customer value and alternative products offered by competitors.

Evaluate and indentify segments and solutions for scalable repeat application.

Identify strategic partnerships with outside companies to strengthen American Tower’s value proposition to new customer segments and proactive market proposals.

Conduct meetings with the Strategic Accounts team to collaborate on opportunities with existing and new customer segments.

Evaluate situational risks and opportunities related to customer-requested solutions for complex wireless infrastructure needs.

Review industry sources (trade publications, financial reports, press releases, etc.) to stay current on trends and issues that impact existing and potential customers.

Conduct brainstorming sessions with internal and external groups to help identify new areas to focus research efforts on.

Select the most appropriate research methodology and techniques, including practical methods, e.g., phone interviews with prospective customers.

Complete qualitative and quantitative research projects; interpret the data and make actionable recommendations.

Assess need and draft topical white papers for private and public distribution.

QUALIFICATIONS

:

Ability to assimilate relevant data sources and home in on key insights that drive business recommendations.

Demonstrated success in identifying and synthesizing customer needs into comprehensive and actionable recommendations.

Ability to work effectively across many internal functional groups to optimize product offerings for individual customer segments.

Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identifying high quality solutions.

Excellent planning skills; ability to effectively manage priorities to meet business requirements and deadlines in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Excellent writing and presentation skills

Ability to present extensive research in varied, audience-specific formats

Ability to drive work both independently toward the successful attainment of set goals and as part of a team to leverage input and knowledge base of others within the company in providing well-rounded and thoughtful recommendations

Ability to identify key contacts for follow up; excellent ability to communicate cross-functionally to ensure understanding.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required

MBA preferred

5 years wireless industry experience in a research or product management role

Sales and/or business development experience preferred

ENVIRONMENT:
Approximately 100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.

Approximately 30% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
