Basic Purpose

Provide technical support in the research and analysis of application stability improvements. Provide Windows support to help resolve application requests and problems for internal users, external customers, and vendors.


The Senior Applications Developer (Applications Support) will provide technical support in the research and analysis of application stability improvements; support requests and resolve problems for internal users, external customers, and vendors; provide assistance, advice, problem solving, and technical information to users regarding the use of software applications; and act as liaison with users regarding the status of their issues and requests.

This position exercises responsibility for the coordination, application, and execution of established procedures related to information systems operations. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of system output and assuring that such output meets user needs. Builds, tests, and debugs code. Interfaces, and configures software packages. Apply technical knowledge, skills, and judgment to solve problems relating to financial systems and subsystems.

Support and resolution on complex application and technical issues including problems related to enterprise networks, servers, and workstations.

Respond to requests and inquiries from users within the pre-determined timeframe of our service level agreement.

Identify solutions to work around open issues/problems that are under investigation or pending resolution.

Work directly with USF or client technology staff, and end users to resolve issues.

Document and track case histories, issues, and action steps taken; follow-up on open issues, communicating status, and setting resolution expectations with users and management.

Perform research, quality assurance testing, and release of supported applications; provide implementation expertise, application training, and problem resolution to users.

Improve documentation of support policies and procedures; create system documentation as required.

Review, approve, and implement new software releases and apply vendor patches.

Provide technical support training to other team members.

Configures software packages; design, code, and test program modules that meet design specifications as required; and update code to address defects and small change requests/enhancements.

Tracks, monitors and reports progress of assignments.

Ensures standards are met by applying USF best practices.

Develop and support integrations, conversions, reports, workflow, and custom development as required.

Identify and apply configuration changes to applications so that they meet documented business process requirements.

Review and approve turnover documentation; create, execute and document the tests necessary to ensure that an application or technical environment meets functional specifications and performance requirements.

Diagnose, resolve, and document application and system issues. Research questions with respect to both maintenance and development activities. Interact with database administrators, server teams, security analysts, and business system users in this effort.

Perform post-installation system review and ongoing support.

Maintain, tune, and repair applications in order to keep them performing according to technical and functional specifications; perform preventive maintenance activities; and provide user support.

Leads and mentors team members.

Provide specific and balanced feedback to peers and management.

Communicate effectively with all levels of business and IT management.

Negotiate acceptable solutions to complex problems across multiple business areas, technical areas, and vendors.

Organize own work and work from or generate specifications.

Manage multiple projects and priorities.

Manage work on multiple platforms and languages.

Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.


Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree OR 2+ years experience in Information Technology.

2+ years experience supporting/troubleshooting Windows operating environments and associated applications.

Prior experience supporting one or more of the following: Visual Basic OR Java OR .Net.

Prior experience with formal change control (i.e., change management processes).

Windows Server IIS

Exposure to Citrix environments

Exposure to Virtualization technologies (i.e., VMware / application virtualization)

Exposure to Enterprise Networking
