- BUSINESS ACCOUNTING & ADVISORY (BA&A)
Senior Associates perform most work assigned with minimal assistance. They often lead one or more Associates and/or Accounting Techs, instruct them in work to be performed, review the work done, and direct necessary revisions. Senior Associates are required to make decisions on all but the most unusual accounting and consulting matters.
Required Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required
3-5 years accounting experience including financial statement preparation, general ledger management, journal entry posting, bank reconciliations, payroll processing and payroll tax filings
Experience in a CPA firm helpful
Proficiency with computer and spreadsheet software programs
Required Licenses, Certificates or Knowledge
If CPA, must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs and respective state societies.
Minimum of forty hours continuing professional education is required each year.
Prepares financial statements and budgets using computer software programs. Analysis of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and provide meaningful management information.
Verifies and/or enters accounting transactions in a computerized accounting system ensuring proper coding, detecting and reconciling discrepancies in financial records and maintaining all relevant documentation and workpapers.
Reconciles bank statements and prepares or manages accounts payables.
Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested including cash flow reports, depreciation schedules, bonus calculations, and overhead calculations.
Prepare various business related tax returns and forms such as sales tax, personal property schedules, workers compensation audits, corporate annual reports, 1099s, and business license tax.
Process payroll and prepare W2s, payroll tax deposits, and/or payroll tax returns.
Performs other accounting and consulting duties as needed in projects and as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with clients, including frequent face-to-face interaction.
Performs diversified accounting, assignments under the direction of Supervisor, Manager or Partner.
Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards.
Meets time constraints and client deadlines.
Participates in planning and scheduling client projects.
Directs and instructs Associates and Accounting Techs, where applicable, in work to be performed and working paper review.
Performs the broadest range of accountant tasks so that direct participation of Supervisors, Managers, or Partners is kept to a minimum.
Attends to client service and adding value to clients’ businesses is an integral part of the job requirements and demonstrates the ability to identify cross-selling opportunities and follow through with those opportunities or refer them to other professionals if necessary.
Takes responsibility for accuracy of data entry, accumulation, and maintenance in all aspects of what we do as an accounting and consulting Firm.
Learns through Mentor or direct Manager proper delegation and management of workload and demonstrates ability to properly delegate and manage workload.
Assists in marketing the Firm.
Encouraged to join a community association related to his/her field after first year of employment with Mentor approval prior to joining.
Participate in Mentoring Program and serve as new hire buddy.
