The Senior Bioassay Scientist position distinguishes itself through research collaboration and high emphasis on new product innovations and analysis requirements. In addition, this position works in close collaboration with GE Healthcare and GE Global Research teams, research sites, and clinical partners to develop new products and applications for molecular pathology. This includes developing and optimizing new molecular in situ assays for novel molecular pathology platforms.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Working in a team-environment as a member of the R&D – ASiST organization
Developing, analyzing, and optimizing immunofluorescence assays for IHC, FiSH, and novel molecular diagnostic tests
Supervise and lead the design team and design control process from requirements development and design planning to design transfer
Designing and executing experiments, analyzing findings, and reporting findings around proteomic and genomic tissue expression.
Providing scientific expertise across a novel molecular pathology program to enable product development and help resolve urgent issues with current products
Collaborating with customers in a strong strategic research environment
Evaluating and extending new concepts as well as providing innovations which can be developed into new product advantages
Documenting and publishing findings internally and in peer-reviewed literature
Masters degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering AND 7+ years work experience in the diagnostics industry
Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering AND 5+ years work experience in the diagnostics industry
Demonstrated experience developing and successfully launching/commercializing assays in a product development setting
Demonstrated expertise with immunofluorescence and fluorescence microscopy
Demonstrated expertise in experimental design (Design of Experiments) and data analysis
Leadership experience in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment
Applied knowledge of tissue in situ/in context

Team management experience (1+ direct reports)
5+ years of experience in a product development (NPI) environment
Experience developing assays for molecular in situ testing
Technical expertise with immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Demonstrated expertise with fluorescent in situ hybridization (FiSH)
Industry/research experience specific to oncology or genetic diagnostics
Record of peer-reviewed publications
Experience with research collaborations
Problem solving skills
History of translating work into impactful results
