The Senior Business Analyst in the Conferences Operations group will work with the Director of Conferences Operations, colleagues, other executive management and cross-departmental teams to conduct analysis, help define strategy, and assist in the development of program models for the introduction of products and services.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Research & Analysis

Recommends and conducts approved area-specific business analysis, customer and product research; researches needs of conference organizers, attendees, authors and other constituents and ensure that these are reflected in the focus and strategy for serving organizers

Gathers and refines requirements by performing business analysis, providing recommendations for process reengineering and best practices

Supports any approved ongoing broad-range customer research to ensure currency of knowledge about our key customer needs

Supplier Managerment & Product Development

Defines potential product and service landscape and identifies appropriate approach for new products (make/buy)

Assesses supplier competencies; conducts rigorous evaluation and testing, monitors supplier performance, provides critical analysis of vendor performance metrics against established measures of success, identifies, investigates, and reacts to significant changes in vendor performance

Strategic Development & Relationship Management

Assesses competitive pressures

Plays a key role in project socialization activities

Interfaces with other IEEE organizations to ensure efficient and effective strategic collaboration and to properly represent Conference Operations models and goals

Ensures Alignment with other M&C strategic initatives, responsibilities and priorities

Partners closely with internal and external teams to develop new services to better serve stakeholders

Initiates, develops, and manages special projects end to end

Executes special projects as assigned

Consulting: Provides analysis, feedback and recommendations (internal consulting) to Sr. Director M&C on a regular basis; provides external consulting as assigned

An undergraduate degree in a technical or computer science related area is preferred; related work experience will be considered. An advanced degree in Business Administration is a plus. PMP certification is a plus. A minimum of 5 yearsÂ’ experience in product management, program development and vendor management is preferred. Candidates must have experience in product management concepts that include general business skills relating to the creation, development, and introduction of products; this includes customer needs, development, and defining appropriate service delivery models. Experience is also required in the understanding of basic marketing concepts of pricing and product positioning. He or she must have experience in business analysis, market analysis, and assessment. The ability to learn, understand, and apply business application models (such as IEEE Xplore and BMS) to support system analysis and improvement is preferred. This person needs to understand the current way IEEE goes to market with conference information since the customer is forcing IEEE to look at new products/services along with new ways to sell these products.
