Senior Buyer, OEM and Contract Manufacturing
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manages procurement of high
value, risk materials to support business requirements: includes purchase order
management, sourcing, contract negotiations, spend analysis and supplier performance
- Leverages enterprise tools and
systems to drive continuous improvement techniques, mentoring of staff and
enhance the performance of the purchasing function
- Assist in driving key procurement
initiatives to support the ongoing transformation and continuous improvement of
systems and processes in the procurement organization along with other projects
as directed by management.
- Administers and manages high
value blanket or long term purchase order commitments to designated suppliers
as necessary to support production and/or sales requirements within the
- Drives material demand forecast
communication and capacity planning for assigned commodity groups and/or
- Supports alignment of production
supplier requirements and sourcing strategies with those of product development
(NPI) for designated suppliers/commodities to ensure uninterrupted material
availability, alignment of risk and cost goals with vision for the business.
- Owns performance management and
improvement efforts for designated suppliers.
- Utilizes lean sourcing principles
(kanban, consignment and other similar material pull methods) to achieve 100%
material availability and optimize OH stock.
- Embraces continuous improvement
techniques to drive toward attainment of key purchasing metrics (supplier OTD,
quality, risk management and cost reduction opportunities).
- Leverages problem solving skills and
develops counters measure to implement long term solutions to identified
- Coordinates engineering change
order activity with suppliers and other functional groups.
- Leverages documented supplier
selection techniques to identify a core supply base able to offer lowest total
cost of ownership and high quality product.
- Supports and provides mentorship to buyers
on standard work, in order to maintain consistency in quality and quantity of
- Engages with management team in development of
internal resource and capacity planning

- Supports construction of annual cost reduction plan

- Leads creation, negotiation and management of complex
commercial (OEM and contract manufacturer level) agreements – covering cost,
quality and delivery terms
- Supports standard cost setting activities
degree or equivalent and 5+ years of experience managing a purchasing team in
high and low volume-manufacturing environments.
computer experience including MS Office products and ERP systems, preferably
SAP and Agile. Strong Excel and Database skills.
track record of effective project management in a fast paced, high volume
knowledge of and experience working with Kanban systems and other lean
knowledge of buying, material planning, master scheduling and forecasting.
