The Senior Buyer position is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. The candidate must be someone with a proven track record of achievement in a high-paced contract manufacturing environment who can multi-task in an exemplary manner. The candidate is someone with purchasing experience in the following commodities: machined & sheet metal fabrication, plastic molding, PCBA's, and other components needed for complex electro-mechanical assemblies. The candidate must have a proven track record of delivering cost & lead-time reduction along with supply base rationalization.
PURCHASING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will perform duties consistent with a buyer / planner position.
Sourcing and purchasing machined & sheet metal fabrication, plastic molding, PCBA's, and other components needed for complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including raw materials, and other production supplies at the optimum, price, quality, and delivery.
Reviewing purchasing requisitions for accuracy of technical information, quantity, specification, and shipping instructions.
Reviewing purchase orders and engineering specifications for clarity, product usage, and inventory carrying cost in order to execute the lowest effective cost quantities.
Issuing purchase orders within established guidelines.
Arranging for delivery including required documentation and packaging (if applicable).
Monitoring supplier performance and recommends and facilitates corrective action for recurring quality or delivery problems.
Participating in value analyses, cost/price analyses, and make or buy decisions, and validating cost estimates included with purchasing requisitions where applicable.
Researching discrepancies in invoices with Accounts Payable and correcting discrepancies with suppliers.
Resolving issues with Shipping and Receiving regarding receipt of damaged goods, short shipments, and documentation discrepancies.

CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years experience in a buyer/planner, or similar role(s) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 5 years experience sourcing, negotiating, and buying machined & sheet metal fabrication, plastic molding, PCBA's, and other components needed for complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
The candidate must have a strong understanding of the fabrication processes' associated with machined & sheet metal fabrication, plastic molding, PCBA's, and other components needed for complex electro-mechanical assemblies to facilitate negotiating optimum pricing, quality, and delivery.
A four-year degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. A wide range of experience across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Inventory Management.
Must possess a thorough understanding of concepts of inventory flow throughout the supply chain.
Demonstrated negotiation skills with all levels of suppliers and internal customers.
Comprehensive MRP knowledge, M2M knowledge a plus.
APICS CPIM Certification and experience with lean manufacturing is preferred.
